The Penny Farthing Hotel is ideally situated just off the High Street in Lyndhurst village centre. Lyndhurst is the ‘capital’ of the New Forest and is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, banks, pubs, as well as the main Visitors Centre and New Museum. With Southampton, Fawley and Marchwood 15/20 minutes to the East, Bournemouth and Christchurch 30 minutes West and Winchester and Salisbury 30 minutes drive our location couldn’t be better!

We pride ourselves on our friendly, personalized service, and the Hotel has for many years enjoyed a continuous grading of FOUR DIAMONDS from annual inspections with the AA, RAC and English Tourist Council.

Arrival at Penny Farthing Hotel
We have a large spacious car park to the rear of the hotel all on ground level, the majority of the car park surface is tarmac with a smaller graveled area; access to the hotel is reached from the car park via the back door this is accessible ascending three steps on to our raised patio area, this area provides a seating area for guests both the car park and patio are well lit. The front door is accessed by walking around the hotel please be aware that there is no pavement until you reach the front of the hotel. The front door is at ground level and is well lit.

Reception
Reception is situated on the ground floor immediately to your right if accessed through the front door or precede through the lounge and bar area if access is through the rear, these doors are not automated. The reception desk is 1 meter in height there is a telephone to summon attention if not manned. Help with luggage is available; all rooms within the main hotel are on the first & second floors.

Reception is manned from 0700 until 2300 Monday to Friday and 0800 until 2300 at weekends - live in staff are available to assist in the event of an emergency.

Ground floor
The restaurant is situated opposite the reception and adjacent to the lounge accessed through double doors, the furniture is free standing, waitress service is always available, and this area is also used to access some first & second floor bedrooms in the main hotel and leads to an outside side door through an internal standard fire door.

The lounge and bar area is located through reception through double doors or by the standard sized rear door, the bar is 1 meter high, low comfortable guest seating is provided throughout this area. Television with remote control and teletext is wall mounted in the lounge. WIFI is available.

Public toilets are within easy reach of the restaurant, lounge & bar they are not adapted for wheelchair users.

Accommodation
We have 19 en-suite bedrooms in the main hotel, all accommodation in the main house is accessed via a flight of stairs, all stairwells from the ground to first floor have fire doors at the top before entering the landing, these doors meet fire regulations and can appear heavy to some users. The stairs leading off from the restaurant accessing two floors are curved and narrow, all stair ways have banisters. All our rooms are individual and vary in size please inform us of your needs when booking - Ariel, Mad Hatter 6 & Kangaroo all have steps within the room. All rooms are en-suite with either a bath or shower, please let us know if you have a preference. The stairs leading to Sunbeam and Quadricyle are curved and narrow. All rooms have tea / coffee making facilities, remote control televisions and telephones, mobile phone coverage is good on all networks, chairs and / or stools are provided in each room.

Hotel Annex
The hotel cottage annex is situated to the rear of our car park; the annex has four en-suite bedrooms and the same facilities as the main hotel bedrooms –

Ground floor
"Challenge" is situated to the rear of the cottage and has access to a private garden, this room can sleep four persons (1 double bed and bunk beds) the room is accessed through the conservatory with a raised entrance step and standard sized door. The double bedroom is accessed through the bunk room both entrances have standard size doors. The bathroom has a shower cubicle.

"High Wheeler" is situated at the front of the cottage and is accessed through the standard front door into a small hall, access to the room is level, the room has twin beds and bathroom with shower cubicle.

Neither of these rooms are suitable for wheelchair users.

First floor
The two first floor rooms are accessed via the stairs. The stairs have a banister and lead to a small landing.

Outside
The hotel has a patio area to the rear of the hotel with seating this area is accessed by three steps and is partially covered.

The hotel also has a garden for all guest use that is a level walk from the car park then on to the graveled area, seating is also supplied in this area.

General
All inside public areas, stairs and bedrooms are fully carpeted we operate a strict NO SMOKING policy throughout the hotel; smoking is permitted on the raised patio area to the rear of the hotel. The fire alarm in both the hotel & annex cottage is audio only. All landing and passage ways are well lit. We do not accept dogs or people with personality defects.
